Position Summary

The Museum Store Manager will be responsible for day to day operations with a focus on retail sales.

The successful candidate will have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. S/he will manage the daily operations including inventory management, record keeping, merchandise display and effectively managing the work others.

This is an part-time, hourly position and not eligible to receive benefits.

Required Qualifications

Knowledge in purchasing, stocking, record keeping, and the budget cycle. Familiarity with facilities management in the retail environment including the displaying of stock and the general cleanliness of the shop.

Excellent customer service skills with a strong public relations appeal. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to train and oversee the work of others.

Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions; to read, write, and make basic mathematical calculations. Reconcile inventory, error reports; and to communicate effectively with the public and other employees.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Previous experience working in retail sales and using a cash register. Familiarity with ordering of inventory and merchandise display.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate’s degree with retail management experience. Previous experience in training, overseeing the work of others and hiring staff is highly preferred.
