Position Summary

This position will focus on STEM work and research topics. Primary responsibility will be to identify important and strategic science activities and to find the story inside, telling it in a compelling and relevant way while remaining true to the science. Additional duties include photography, working in a content management system, editing/proofreading and contributing to various special projects.

Required Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in journalism, communications or a related field, or STEM degree coupled with any applicable communications experience. Two or more years of relevant professional experience. Outstanding news and feature writing on STEM subjects; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; demonstrated competence in MS Office/Adobe Photoshop, and the ability to work on tight deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in media relations and demonstrated competence in the use of a content management system. Solid comfort level working with a wide variety of technical and complex topics. Experience writing in journalistic and non-journalistic idioms. Familiarity with AP Style and proficiency in social media usage and analytics. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in a research environment.

Advertised Pay Range Up to $45,000. Commensurate with Experience
