Position Summary

Teach and mentor student-athletes to develop their self confidence and leadership abilities as they work towards achieving their goals through individual hard work. Provide the leadership and direction for a highly competitive NCAA Division I athletic program, maintain a balance with academic excellence and uphold the standards of the College and the Athletic Department. Create and maintain a positive, nurturing environment for the student-athletes to advance their knowledge and skills, both athletically and personally.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and a professional level of experience or specialized expertise.
• Skills or competencies related to the sport through previous playing and/or coaching experience
• Must exercise independent judgement and discretion in the instruction and coaching of student-athletes in individual skill instruction and small group sessions.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities gained through prior playing and/or coaching experience;
• Demonstrated attention to detail and strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills;
• Demonstrated ability to lead small and large group discussions;
• Strong computer skills and the ability to utilize the latest advances in technology.
• Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, and have the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions.
• Current CPR certification or completed within 6 months of employment.
• Yearly completion of NCAA compliance certification.
• Completion of University van safety training.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree
• Sport specific coaching certification
• Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience

Special Application Instructions
Conditions of Employment:

• Must meet physical requirements for the job, including the ability to participate in and lead strenuous physical activities.
• Must work nights and weekends.
• Frequent overnight travel during week and on weekends on a monthly basis throughout the year.
• Prolonged period of sitting and standing indoor and frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
• Yearly completion of NCAA compliance certification.
• Current CPR certification or completed within 6 months of employment
• Completion of University van safety training.
• Maintain a valid drivers license.
• This is a restricted position subject to availability of funding.
