Position Summary

The ITPIR Assistant Program Director will support the Operations Director in a wide variety of strategic initiatives and will coordinate on innovative student and faculty engagement related to international policy and research. In this position, the individual will help establish and execute strategic programs and events for the Institute. The individual will also help coordinate initiatives related to international and Williamsburg based student programming, business development, and communication strategy.

Required Qualifications

-Masters degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in business, public policy, public administration, higher education, or related fields
-Experience with business development, strategic communication, donor outreach, and/or strategic partnerships
-Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a demanding and complex work environment, carry out assignments in a timely manner, and adapt to changing situations and priorities
-Record of delivering high quality outputs for projects or programs
-Exceptional planning and organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines and minimal supervision
-Dedicated team player with track record of working collaboratively across institutional and/or disciplinary boundaries
-Excellent interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy
-Demonstrated ability to translate technical information into jargon-free prose
-Outstanding presentation, communication, and collaborative leadership skills
-Excellent command of the English language, written and spoken

Preferred Qualifications

-Relevant experience working for or with government or or multilateral agency, non-governmental organization, think tank, or academic institution.
-Three or more years of experience with higher ed, student programming, and/or international development/security policy
-Proficiency in Cascade or similar content management systems for webpage maintenance.
-In-depth knowledge of issues related to international development / security policy and practice
-Experience dealing with researchers and the global development community
-Experience in supporting international student research activities
-Experience in the higher education environment
-Experience with audience segmentation and targeting

Conditions of Employment:

This position will include some work on evenings and weekends to support alumni events and other external engagements. This position is also expected to include some travel, particularly in the DC region. Must have a current driver’s license.

Restricted position subject to availability of funding.
