Position Summary

Responsible for maintaining and repairing utility services and building electrical systems at the Institute, as well as the renovation of existing facilities and the construction of new facilities. Ensure the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of all electrical systems as well as performs preventive maintenance on all systems. Must be thoroughly familiar with all aspects of the electrical industry. Must be familiar with all applicable codes, BOCA, NEC, etc. Experience with the practices, methods, and materials commonly used in the repair and servicing of various types of electrical system and equipment. Must have strong oral and written communication skills. Experience with the care and use of tools and equipment essential for the repair and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment. Ability to deal effectively with supervisors, peers and customers. Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Ability to work in confined spaces and from heights including working from ladders and scaffolding.

Required Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities and/or Competencies:

-Must be thoroughly familiar with all aspects of the electrical industry.
-Must be familiar with all applicable codes, BOCA, NEC, etc.
-Experience with the practices, methods, and materials commonly used in the repair and servicing of various types of electrical system and equipment.

Licenses:

-Valid Virginia Driver’s License
-Journeyman’s card or equivalent experience in the electrical field

Education:

-High school graduate or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated proficiency with basic MS Office Programs.
