William & Mary invites qualified applicants to apply for the Coordinator, Student Philanthropy & Recent Graduate Engagement to join a dynamic team of Professionals.

The Coordinator, Student Philanthropy and Recent Graduate Programs will provide support for student philanthropy programs and young alumni initiatives. The Coordinator will assist the Assistant Director, Student Philanthropy & Recent Graduate engagement with specific classes, volunteer engagement and management, class giving and alumni and student philanthropy outreach to include key college-wide young alumni and student engagement events, new initiatives and unit support.

In collaboration with the Assistant Director, Student Philanthropy & Recent Graduate Engagement and the Graduate Assistant for Student Philanthropy, the Coordinator will implement and support strategic plans to maximize donors raised through, and participation in, William & Mary’s class agent and student philanthropy programs. The Coordinator will also work closely with Alumni Association Staff, University Events Staff and other College-wide partners to coordinate effective young alumni and student engagement opportunities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Heavy interaction with the Volunteer Engagement team, supporting student and young alumni efforts.
  • Supporting the Assistant Director, Student Philanthropy & Recent Graduate Engagement as well as playing an integral part in the success of the overall Volunteer Engagement program.
  • Maintaining and developing relationships with student and young alumni volunteers, as assigned by the Assistant Director. Components of the student philanthropy program include several student organizations, including Students for University Advancement,and the Senior Class Gift.
  • Assist in the execution of on-going young alumni and student engagement, class giving and participation. (Engagement strategies should include annual solicitation and stewardship as well as prospect development)
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of education, training or experience.


  • Knowledge of fundraising or volunteer management principles, with strong relationship building skills and the ability to develop and maintain on going relationships.
  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to use creativity in developing strategic plans while exercising sound judgment when making recommendations or proposing solutions.
  • Strong computer proficiency with a variety of software applications, specifically MS Office (Word and Excel) and familiarity with databases.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, students and donors.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities within specified deadlines.


  • Experience in managing or leading student organizations.
  • Experience with tracking or maintaining data.
Preferred Qualifications


  • Knowledge of Advance database or other similar relational database.
  • Strong project coordination skills with the ability to develop strategies, coordinate efforts and manage resources.
  • Demonstrated skills in event coordination.
  • Strong analytical skills and familiarity with benchmarking data.


  • Demonstrated experience in academic fundraising is highly preferred.
  • Student leadership at phonathon, senior class gift, or other student philanthropy organization.
  • Experience analyzing data and producing reports.

Conditions of Employment:
  • This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.
  • This position may be expected to work over-time, to include evenings and weekends as needed.
  • This position requires the ability to travel.
