Position Summary

The Assistant Director, Employer Relations oversees and implements the campus recruiting program. The Assistant Director interfaces with recruiters and organizations with an interest in interviewing and hiring William & Mary students. The Assistant Director plans and manages annual Career Fairs, employer information sessions, on-campus interview schedules, and consortium events.

The Assistant Director manages employer partnerships and technical functions within the campus recruiting system and database.

The Assistant Director ensures that all staff are trained on the campus recruiting system and data is reported in a timely and efficient manner. The Assistant Director creates annual, semesterly and adhoc recruiting reports as needed.

The Assistant Director also provides career advising services to students from all majors and class year. This includes one-on-one, group, and other advising support related to: resume reviews, job search strategies, interview skills, and overall career planning.

Successful performance of this position requires knowledge of the services, programs, and resources of a full-service career services office; ability to supervise and lead student staff; knowledge of the on-campus recruitment process; strong interpersonal and organizational skills; the ability to work in a fast-paced environment; the ability to provide job-search and career advising; and the ability to handle multiple tasks.

Working knowledge of career services databases and competence with word processing and database management. The position also requires work with a diverse group of constituents, including employers, alumni, faculty, students, and College staff and administrators. Should also possess excellent public relations and writing abilities, as well as the ability to work under pressure in a high-volume transaction environment; to coordinate and implement programs; and to supervise the work of student staff.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree; Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word); Strong communication skills (written and oral); Technical aptitude to learn new technologies (i.e., Symplicity software, Cascade Web tools). The ability to work autonomously.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Higher Education; 1-2 years experience working in Higher Education.
