Position Summary

The Senior Assistant Dean reports to the Associate Dean of Development and Alumni Affairs. This position’s primary focus is on travel to cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of approximately 150 major gift prospects each with the capacity to make gifts/pledges in excess of $100,000 within 3-5 years of identification and simultaneously to oversee solicitation of annual unrestricted leadership gifts.

Required Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree is required
• Several years of frontline development experience.
• Demonstrated ability to represent William & Mary Law School at all times with strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative working style.
• Proven ability to motivate, engage and work with alumni, students and members.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and with a diverse constituent base.
• Demonstrates significant organizational skills along with ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills needed; must be adept at using persuasive language to promote visionary and annual gift opportunities.
• Demonstrates a commitment to high performance and teamwork, and a proven ability to reach increasingly aggressive goals.

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters in Higher Education Administration or comparable field

Experience with soliciting and finalizing major gifts in a higher education setting is preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.

• Experience working in higher education is also preferred.
