Position Summary

This program provides valuable, paid library work experience to students looking to pursue library careers. Developed in response to the newly adopted W&M Libraries Diversity Plan, this program has been designed to provide the support and opportunities needed to encourage, develop and grow future librarians, archivists and library professionals.
Selected individual(s) will work with an assigned mentor to draft position goals and duties that support the priorities and initiatives of W&M Libraries. Position will be tailored to match applicants’ interests.

Required Qualifications

• Recent BS or BA degree earned betweem Fall 2017 or Spring 2018.
• Interest in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in the library sciences.

Preferred Qualifications

• Preference will be given to recent William & Mary graduates.

Conditions of Employment:

• Restricted position: One year term; August 1, 2018 – July 31, 2019 with some flexibility on start/end dates. Up to 1499 hours for the year term (average 29 hours per week).

• All hourly employees are subject to the limitations of the Virginia Manpower Control Program and total hours worked may not exceed, on average, 29 hours per week, over the course of a twelve month period beginning May 1 each year.

• This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.
