Position Summary

Under limited supervision, this position will develop and coordinate the process for tracking and recording all non-credit course information for the College. Duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Non-Credit Operations:
a. Coordinate and develop all aspects of centralized non-credit operations for university schools, divisions, and units that wish or need to have participants in Banner or other central services. This may include, program and course creation and scheduling, student enrollment, transcript generation, and reporting.
b. Maintain catalog-level documentation for all programs using Veterans Benefits or requiring central coordination for compliance purposes.
c. Serve as liaison from University Registrar’s Office to programs currently using and those considering centralized non-credit operations.

2. Academic Scheduling support to specific complex activities:
a. Quality Controls for academic scheduling (Jan-March; August-October)
b. Manage “tiered enrollment” during Priority Registration (October and March)
c. Manage room assignments for final exams for fall and spring (November and April)
d. Respond to scheduling change survey (change details in Banner for classes already scheduled)
e. Support training by preparing materials and documentation.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of enrollment, registration and record-keeping policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of student information system such as Banner.
• Proficiency with word processing and data management applications: databases, spreadsheets, queries and reports.
• Demonstrates strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Demonstrates an ability to lead the process to facilitate efficiency and timeliness in a high-volume, highly technical environment.
• Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication and the ability to manage expectations and needs of customer base with tact and cordiality.
• Demonstrated ability to make decisions and exercise independent judgment in alliance with federal and state policies and procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively in an independent environment and form productive working relationships across institutional offices and programs

Preferred Qualifications

• Banner knowledge and experience
• Experience with either non-credit operations or class scheduling
• Higher education experience

Conditions of Employment:

• Some long hours and weekend work are rare and tend to be linked with major university initiatives such as commencement and orientation.
• Some travel may be required for relevant workshops, etc.
• This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.
• All hourly employees are subject to the limitations of the Virginia Manpower Control Program and total hours worked may not exceed, on average, 29 hours per week, over the course of a twelve month period beginning May 1 each year.
